Massage therapy has many benefits for children. Much like with adults, massage can help balance a child’s muscle tone by decreasing tension, especially during growth spurts. Massage supports deeper breathing patterns which can help children with respiratory issues and anxiety. Massage can also help children establish a positive mind-body connection. Parents/guardians often remain in the treatment room but should be prepared to sit quietly during the session. It is suggested that for children receiving massage therapy for the first time, they are booked for a 30 minute session to judge how they respond to the treatment.
