Cupping is an ancient form of alternative treatment where suction draws the blood to the skin and separates layers of tissue. This treatment is used to help treat pain, reduce scar tissue, and relieve muscle knots and swelling. As with many forms of therapeutic massage, the sensation experienced by the client varies and at times may be uncomfortable. The treatment will likely leave a mark on the skin however it will fade with time and should not be tender. The cups can stay in place for several minutes or can be pulled along the tissue to address specific concerns of the client. Your therapist will often place the cups on one area while providing hands-on treatment to other areas of the body.
