Acupuncture

Chinese acupuncture is founded in ancient systems theory, clinician experience and intuition.

Traditional Chinese acupuncture is used to resume normal balance to the whole body. The balance of yin and yang, masculine and feminine, thought and emotion, hot and cold, internal and external, and wake and sleep cycles. This practice uses thin needles that are gently tapped into the skin at specific points along a meridian line. Needles are left in for a period of 20-45 minutes to influence teh nervous and circulatory systems as well as hormones. The meridians are mapped out highways of neurological information which directly stimulate the brain to heal the body. This process treats a wide range of conditions not limited to but including insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, menstrual cramping, Raynauds (cold extremities), dizziness, nasal congestion and general treatment of colds and flus.

Acupuncture can be used in conjunction with massage and cupping therapies to remove stubborn tension from the body. The acupuncturist will assess the spine and back through massage techniques and will then decompress any restrictions with either glide or static cupping. And if any knots still remain, a needle can be inserted at the site of pain to disperse any tension that remains.

Acupuncture can also include Chinese Fire Cupping.

Chinese Fire Cupping
With the use of glass cups and a flame, cups are placed on the surface of the body and either left for a period of 10 – 20 minutes, or used in a gliding motion. The decompression that results is often very relieving for a patient with difficult and persistent muscle tension. This technique acts as an effective lymphatic drainage and circulatory stimulator and will often assist in the removal of waste from the lymphatic system. The most common areas of restriction where cupping can help are IT bands, back, hamstrings and shoulders.
